Religious Liberty & FoRB

Religious freedom is a foundational principle that empowers individuals and communities to live out their deepest convictions with integrity and authenticity. It’s the freedom to believe, not believe, or change one’s beliefs without fear of coercion or persecution. It’s more than just a legal right — it’s a pathway to human flourishing and collaboration across difference.

In my work, religious freedom is both a guiding principle and a practical tool for building bridges of understanding. The principle of freedom of religion, belief, and nonbelief (FoRB) provides the essential space for individuals to discover and express their most profound values and beliefs while respecting the dignity and convictions of others.

True religious freedom is about more than mere tolerance — it’s about creating conditions where people are free to bring their fullest selves to the table. It allows us to engage across difference without sacrificing our own integrity. It allows us to find common ground and work toward shared goals even when our beliefs and worldviews differ.

My approach to religious freedom is grounded in the principles of Covenantal Pluralism, which emphasizes the importance of mutual respect, integrity, and authentic collaboration. Through this framework, I strive to help individuals and groups engage meaningfully with one another, building relationships that acknowledge and honor deeply held convictions rather than erasing or minimizing them.

Religious freedom matters because it offers a hopeful way forward in a world often divided by competing beliefs. By creating space for people to live authentically and work together across differences, we can build a more peaceful, compassionate, and flourishing world.
